Badagry Apc crisis intense as Integrity Groups Rejects Assembly Primary Results,Alleges Deceptionย

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Badagry has taken a fresh turn as the APC Integrity Group, Badagry, publicly rejected the outcome of the Lagos State House of Assembly primary election for Badagry Constituency I, alleging widespread irregularities, result manipulation and the disenfranchisement of party members.

Speaking during a press conference held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, the group accused officials involved in the May 21 primary election of undermining internal democracy and compromising the credibility of the exercise.

Addressing journalists, party stakeholders and supporters, the group said the primary election failed to meet the standards of transparency, fairness and credibility expected within the ruling party.

According to the group, the controversy began when the original election scheduled for May 20 was reportedly cancelled without proper notification to aspirants and stakeholders. They alleged that a new election date was later communicated through unofficial channels, leaving many party members unaware of the development.

The group further alleged that the exercise was marred by accreditation irregularities, claiming that some individuals participated in the voting process without proper verification of their APC membership status, contrary to the party’s established guidelines.

Raising further concerns over the conduct of the election, the APC Integrity Group claimed there were discrepancies between results announced at ward levels and figures eventually presented at the collation centre.

The group also alleged that violence and intimidation created an atmosphere of fear that discouraged many party members from participating freely in the electoral process.

One of the most serious allegations raised at the press conference was the reported exclusion of accredited party agents from the collation process. According to the group, agents who were legally entitled to monitor the exercise were denied access to the collation centre, while results were allegedly prepared behind closed doors without transparency.

“A primary election conducted without proper notice, without proper accreditation, without transparency, and without the presence of accredited agents cannot be described as free, fair or credible,” the group declared.

While stressing that their position was not solely about one aspirant, the group maintained that the issue concerned the rights of every APC member in Badagry whose vote should count in determining party candidates.

The APC Integrity Group specifically referenced the interests of Hon. Solomon Saanu Bonu, insisting that the controversy surrounding the primary election extends beyond individual ambitions and speaks directly to the future of internal democracy within the party.

The group called on the APC National Working Committee, Lagos State APC leadership, the party’s Appeal Committee and other relevant organs to immediately intervene in the matter.

Among its demands are a comprehensive investigation into all alleged irregularities, independent verification of ward and collation results, sanctions against any officials found culpable, and corrective measures capable of restoring what it described as the true mandate of party members.

Despite its grievances, the group reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and pledged continued support for the party’s growth and success.

“We are not fighting the party; we are fighting injustice. We are not challenging democracy; we are defending democracy,” the group stated.

The APC Integrity Group also appealed to its supporters across Badagry to remain peaceful and law-abiding while pursuing their grievances through constitutional and democratic channels.

The latest development is expected to intensify discussions within APC circles in Badagry as party leaders come under increasing pressure to address the allegations and prevent further divisions ahead of future electoral contests.

The Lagos APC leadership is yet to officially respond to the allegations raised by the group.
