Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has criticised what she described as Nollywood’s growing obsession with beauty at the expense of talent.
According to her, the pressure to meet certain beauty standards has pushed some actresses toward cosmetic procedures and body enhancement surgeries, including Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
She said,
Majority of Nollywood filmmakers prioritise beauty over talent. There are good directors who regard only talent but to be honest, majority prefer beauty to talent. That is why you see a lot of movie stars doing surgeries to enhance their bodies.
She added that opportunities are sometimes denied to women who do not conform to those standards through makeup or cosmetic enhancement.
