1. Please, can we meet you?

My name is Jezzyken, and I am an Afrobeat artist passionate about creating music that tells real-life stories and connects with people on a deep level. My sound blends traditional Afrobeat rhythms with contemporary influences, making my music both timeless and fresh.

2. Briefly share with us about your up bringing, background, and education.

I was born and raised in Enugu, Nigeria, where I developed a love for music from an early age. Growing up in a culturally rich environment exposed me to different sounds and artistic expressions. My education was a mix of formal schooling and self-learning, as I always had a deep interest in music, entrepreneurship, and technology.

My career has been a journey of growth and evolution. I released my EP Trials & Tribulations, which reflects my personal experiences and the struggles we all go through. As an independent artist and founder of my record label, Myself, I take pride in controlling my creative direction while building a platform for other artists to thrive.

4. Since when have you been into music?

Aside from music, what else do you do?
I have been into music for as long as I can remember, but I officially started my professional career a few years ago. Aside from music, I am actively involved in real estate and the tech industry. I believe in financial independence and using multiple streams of income to create stability, which is something I advocate for both in and outside my music.

5. What will you say about the attacks and killings in Nigeria?

The violence in Nigeria is deeply heartbreaking. The loss of innocent lives due to insecurity is something that should never be normalized. We need stronger leadership, justice, and peace to create a better future. I use my music to speak on real-life issues, and I believe artists can play a role in raising awareness and pushing for change.

6. What is your best food?

I love traditional Nigerian food, but my favorite has to be jollof rice with grilled chicken and plantain. Nothing beats a well-prepared plate of jollof!

7. As an artist, what have been your challenges, and what is your biggest achievement so far?

One of the biggest challenges has been navigating the industry as an independent artist. Building a name, funding my projects, and handling business aspects while staying true to my sound takes a lot of dedication. However, my biggest achievement so far is launching my EP Trials & Tribulations and establishing Myself, my own record label. Seeing my music reach and inspire people is the most rewarding part of this journey.

8. What, and who inspired you to do music, and what brought about the name Jezzyken?

My inspiration comes from life itself—the struggles, the victories, and the emotions we all experience. Musically, I have been influenced by Afrobeat legends and contemporary artists pushing boundaries. The name Jezzyken is a combination of my personality and artistic vision. It represents resilience, creativity, and a commitment to making timeless music.

9. Are you signed to any label?

No, I am an independent artist and the founder of my own record label, Myself. This allows me full creative control over my music and brand. However, I am always open to collaborations and opportunities that align with my vision.

10. Lastly, what will you tell up-and-coming artists, your fans, and young people who want to venture into music?

Stay true to yourself and your sound. The music industry is tough, but consistency, hard work, and authenticity will set you apart. Invest in your craft, learn the business side of music, and don’t be afraid to take risks. To my fans, I appreciate your love and support—it means everything to me. To young artists, believe in your dreams, stay patient, and never stop pushing.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my story.
