Kris Boyd delivers his verdict as Scotland face a nervous wait to learn their World Cup fate after they were beaten 3-0 by Brazil.
‘You can’t gift away goals at this level’
It could have been a lot more. I think Angus Gunn stopped it from being five or six.
The message from Steve (Clarke) again will be that you can’t gift goals away at this level and expect to draw, let alone win them.
It’s a case of so near yet so far and you thought Brazil could step it up again if they wanted to.
There was a huge gulf in class but after gifting a goal away again so early, it’s always going to be difficult.
Scotland need to improve at major tournaments’
Over the three recent tournaments we have been at there is no doubt this group have come on leaps and bounds.
They have deserved to qualify but the reality is that once we get here it has to improve.
If it doesn’t, this will continue at major tournaments. It is fantastic to get here but you don’t want to just be here to make up the numbers.
You want to put in a performance but we’ve failed to do that.
It’s now going to be a nervous wait to see if we can scrape through to the last 32, but it’s looking very difficult.
